Verdi was an Italian composer from the Romantic Period. He was highly recognized for his Italian opera compositions. There is one authentic portrait of Giuseppe Verdi known to exist.
Giovanni Boldini painted this portrait in 1886. Boldini was known for his genre and portrait work. This famous artist was known for his flowing style of painting. Boldini moved to Paris in 1872 where he became friends with Edgar Degas. He died there in 1931.

Various portraits were painted of Verdi after his death in 1901. He was painted post mortem by Leo Eichhorn, A. Hermann, and Franz Rumpf. There are a few additional portraits of Verdi but the artist and date are unknown on these portraits.
