Algirdas Petrulis was a Lithuanian artist who studied at Kaunas Art School. Petrulis worked as a professor for many years at the Vilnius State Art Institute. Petrulis worked in the studio of Justinas Vienožinskis, a well-known Lithuanian painter and art critic. Petrulis became a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association in 1946, several years before having his first solo exhibition in 1964.
Petrulis’s style changed over the course of his career. While his earlier paintings consist of more traditional landscapes, his later work is marked by color abstract compositions.
Petrulis continued to paint until his death in 2010. His paintings continue to sell at auctions and galleries. He is highly regarded as one of Lithuania’s more prominent abstract painters.
