Juhan Jaagu Muks, known as Juhan Muks, was an Estonian artist born in Tuhalaane, Estonia. Muks began his artistic training at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn and later trained at the School of Ants Laikmaa. In the 1920s, Muks moved to Riga to continue to training at the Latvian Academy of the Arts. Muks showed exceptional talent and was awarded a grant to live in work in Paris from 1925 to 1926.
Muks returned to Estonia before the outbreak of World War II, settling in Viljandi County, the region where he was born. Muks painted a number of landscapes, depicting rural Estonia.
