Hector Molne was born in Camaguey, Cuba, and studied at the Escuela de Arts Plasticas in his home town. As a student, Molne was awarded a scholarship to study in Paris at La Grande Chaumiere. Throughout his career, he held exhibitions in Cuba, Costa Rica, Los Angeles and throughout Florida, including in Miami, where he eventually settled.
Molne’s oeuvre is a combination of Cuban national images and symbolism and Expressionist styling. His stunning compositions feature guarijos (roughly meaning, country man) and beautiful landscapes of the Cuban countryside. Molne has participated in a number of important group exhibitions of Cuban art during his lifetime in Havana, Camaguey, Scandanavia, France, Costa Rica and The United States.
Today, Molne’s work is housed all over the world, and is still highly sought after at auctions by collectors. His son, Marcel Molne is an expert on his father’s art and performs art authentications for Art Certification Experts.
