Alessandro Longi was an 18th century Italian painter. Longhi trained under his father, painter Giuseppe Nogari, and also studied to be an engraver. He was best known for his paintings of Venetian noble men, and was the father of painter Pietro Longhi.
Longhi’s work is praised by art historians for its depictions of the clothing and robes that his sitters wear. Longhi was also the official portrait painter to the Venetian Academy.
