Lazar Licenoski was a Macedonian painter born in Galicnik. Licenoski studied art in Belgrade under Milan Milovanović among others. Licenoski held his first exhibition of paintings in Skopje. He spent a brief amount of time working in Paris before returning to Belgrade, where he joined the group Oblik.

Licenoski’s style progressed over the course of his career. He began by focusing on portraits and social themed work. His later work is more expressionist in style. He stopped painting portraits and focused more on landscapes. Licenoski made a number of public works, including murals and mosaics, in addition to his smaller canvases.
