Leprince was appointed as a painter of the Imperial Palace in Saint Petersburg in 1757, and traveled Russia extensively, going as far even to Siberia . He returned to Paris in 1762 and earned a name for himself with his paintings of rural Russian country and domestic scenes. Towards the end of his life as his health declined, Leprince mainly painted French landscapes.
