Lepicie painting, Woman Reading

Woman Reading

Michael Lepicie was an 18th century French painter. Lepicie was the son of an engraver, and he received his initial training from him. However, Lepicie gravitated more towards painting than engraving, and began to paint primarily historical and domestic genre scenes. Lepicie’s work is reminiscent of Greuze and Chardin, and today he is remembered for his interior domestic scenes.
