Dimitar Kondovski was a Macedonian artist born in the city of Prilep. Kondovski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where he developed his style as a painter and illustrator. Kondovski played an influential role in building a post-war art movement in Macedonia. He worked as a professor at the Pedagogial Academy in Skopje for several years and exhibited throughout Macedonia and around the world.

Kondovski’s style is remembered for its mixture of modern and historic aesthetics. Critics applauded his ability to meld traditional and contemporary Macedonian motifs. Kondovski received numerous awards for paintings shown at such exhibitions as the Belgrade Triennial and the Mediterranean Biennale.
