While the majority of Hirv’s paintings were made in the first years of the 20th century, he used a technique reminiscent of the Dutch Golden Age. Hirv executed a number of highly still life paintings with traditional objects such as fruit, wine, fish, flowers, etc. In addition to his still-lifes, Hirv painted a number of figures, both as portraits and in genre scenes.
