Alfred Dubucand, French school, was born in Paris on November 25, 1828 and studied sculpture under Lequien. From 1867 until 1883 he exhibited at the Paris Salon. In 1879 he was awarded the bronze medal.
Dubucand was primarily an “animalier”, an animal sculptor, and of dogs, hunting scenes, domestic animals and Orientalist hunts in particular. He is believed to have died in 1894 but some texts give the date as 1898.
