Juozas Bagdonas was a Lithuanian artist who was born in Plunge Township. Bagdonas began his artistic training at Kaunas Art School, alongside other prominent Lithuanian artists. After graduating, Bagdonas continued his training in the studio of Justin Vienožinskis. Bagdonas had his first exhibition in 1933 with the Lithuanian-French Society.
