line

Attributed to Andy Warhol, Electric Chair (ca. 1964-5) silkscreen, 22 x 28 inches, private collection.

The rock star Alice Cooper forgot he had a Warhol silkscreen in a storage unit. He recently re-discovered it after forty years and is offering it for sale at a Scottsdale, Arizona gallery.

The piece is unsigned. The Warhol Foundation stopped authenticating art work in 2011.

We authenticate and appraise Warhols and can help you get the best possible sales price.

The gallery selling Electric Chair has set its sales price at between $2.5 to $4.5 million.

Alice Cooper and his girlfriend (Revlon model Cindy Lang) were friends of Andy Warhol starting in the 1960s. The Scottsdale gallery selling Electric Chair produced photos from the 1970s of Alice Cooper with Andy Warhol at clubs such as Max’s Kansas City in New York.

Ms. Lang gave Electric Chair to Alice Cooper as a gift. Alice Cooper says Lang bought it for $2,500.
