Jacopo Amigoni was an 18th
century Italian painter known for his paintings of
religious and mythological figures. He is best known for
his early work in Venice, and his works are housed today
all over prominent locations in England and Italy. He
gained much acclaim outside of Italy during his lifetime
for his Rococo style. |

In 1747, Amigoni left Italy for Madrid, Spain to be the
court painter for Ferdinand VI. He later also became the
director of the Royal Academy of Saint Fernando, and
died in Madrid. |
